Here are 5 diet / weight loss myths that, in my opinion, need to disappear. Now. 1 – Carbs don’t make you fat. Too many calories (carbs/fats/protein/sugar/etc…) make you gain weight. Target overall calories, rather than demonising one macro-nutrient. 2 – If you manage to ‘eat clean’ (unprocessed, natural, nutrient rich foods) 100% of the time, and remain happy, then I’m happy for you. But in reality, the vast majority of people will get much better results and sustainability with a target of 80-90% of the time. Just keep in mind the overall calorie intake. 3 – Fat burning supplements do not work. They’re a scam. Don’t waste your money. 4 – Fasting (eating only in a certain time frame during a 24 hour period), when done right, helps you easily achieve a calorie deficit. That’s it. It works for some, not for others. It is not a magic fix. 5 – Your body detoxes itself. Again, please don’t waste your money. Focus on what you’re putting into your body for nutrients. Eating some vegetables each day will do more for detoxing your body than a detox coffee will.
