Protein: Why you need it!


A client asked me the other day, while discussing their current eating habits, is protein as important as I'm making it out to be? My immediate response was a resounding yes! But why is it so important?


Protein is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in the human body. It is necessary for the proper growth, repair, and maintenance of tissues, as well as the production of enzymes, hormones, and other molecules that are essential for good health. For people who are interested in fitness, protein is especially important because it is needed to build and repair muscle tissue, which is essential for optimal physical performance.


There are many different sources of protein, including animal products such as meat, poultry, fish, and eggs, as well as plant-based sources like beans, nuts, and seeds. It is important to include a variety of protein sources in your diet to ensure that you are getting all of the essential amino acids that your body needs.
